L.A. Pet Events Sat. Feb. 13 (11am-3pm) "ADOPT A VALENTINE" Pet Adoption Benefit at North Central Animal Shelter! Don't miss the 1st Annual "Adopt a Valentine" Pet Adoption Benefit! Meet a furry valentine and enjoy food, games, free rides, and live music! Presented by the Friends of Hermon Dog Park, a non-profit support organization based in Northeast LA. This special pet adoption benefit will include substantial discounts on adoption fees (which includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchip). The maximum cost will be $78.50 per dog and $50.50 per cat. Plus, the first 10 adoptions will receive an additional $25 off! A highlight of this event includes live music from three talented local artists, who have graciously donated their time for this worthy cause: * Artichoke * Earthworm Ensemble * Susan James. Also ride the giant 25' shark slide, enjoy free henna/face painting, win door prizes, play games, and visit over 25 vendors and animal welfare groups. Bring in your pet for inexpensive $25 micro-chipping, which someday could save its life. The shelter is easily accessible from the Gold Line's Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park Station. Join us for cocktails and hors D’oeuvres at Les Deux Restaurant in Hollywood for our first annual awards ceremony dedicated to Southern California’s top dogs! It's that time of year when celebrities hit the red carpets at the Oscars, Golden Globes and SAG Awards ... and now our four-legged stars will have their big night with the WAG Awards! Natural pet food and treats company DOGSWELL is honoring red carpet canines in a charity event supporting Four Legged Friends Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers financial support and education for animals and their guardians. Each year in February, Long Beach, Calif., dogs and their lovers gather to celebrate faces that some say only a mother could love. English bulldogs are the featured breed at this event that organizer Justin Rudd says is the largest gathering of bulldogs in the world. In addition to the Bulldog Beauty Contest, other contest and events in the day will feature French bulldogs, Pugs and senior dogs of all breeds/mixes and a host of pet related vendors! The city of Beverly Hills Community Services will be presenting it’s 2nd annual day-long pet extravaganza, including a pet parade, pet vendors, pet adoptions, pet related entertainment and food vendors! Join the largest gathering ever of humans in one place for the purpose of learning the animal life saving skills of Pet First Aid and CPR in conjunction with National Pet First Aid Awareness Month (April). Proceeds will benefit the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Topics covered include rescue breathing and CPR, what to do for a choking pet, how to give your dog or cat a head to tail checkup exam, check-up on vitals including respiration, pulse, temperature, capillary refill time and hydration and how to handle chocolate poisoning, snake bites, heat strokes and more.
